Shabby Chic Tea Journal (Available at Etsy)

This handcrafted hard covered tea journal is available here in Mrs Cog's Crafts Etsy Store.

Shabby Chic and functional, this one of a kind book was just downright enjoyable to make. Teeming with multi-media features and extras, it features design papers from Tim Holtz's Wallflower and Graphic 45's Botanicabella. The book measures approximately six inches high and five inches wide.

The cover is made with heavy duty chipboard, covered in sturdy cardstock and then layered with Tim Holtz paper. The cover is adorned with metal embellishments from Recollections and Tim Holtz Idea-ology, metal eyelets for the ribbon enclosures and various lace trimmings.

The spine is also chipboard and cardstock construction with tyvek reinforcement inside. The binding for the four inserts are a Midori style elastic cord run through the sturdy spine. The elastic is covered with more lace. On the top of the spine on the outside of the book, a lobster clip with a six inch + tassel attaches to a ring.

The tassel is a classic Victorian-esque shabby chic style of ribbons, lace trim and a metal chain with various charms attached. The charms include a porcelain cup, saucer and spoon and buffed bronze colored charms that say "Wish", "love", a sea turtle and at the bottom, a large key.

Inside the book there are four inserts. Each insert is handmade and handsewn with a cardstock cover and various filler papers.

Insert #1 contains a history of medicinal herbal teas (many of my favorites) with blank pages in between, stamped with herbal and plant images. The pages are cream cardstock with room for your notes and thoughts.

Insert #2 is covered with a signature image from the beautiful Botanicabella paper by Graphic 45. Inside, is blank lined paper for journaling.

Insert #3 is a reference I had included in my homestead planners (also offered for sale in my Etsy shop) - and since it is directly connected with natural healing, I included an abridged version here. In addition to giving names and trends associated with the full moon cycles, the actual dates of the full moons each month though the year 2032 are included here.

The 4th insert is the Bee reference section. Who doesn't enjoy bee-ing more healthy with a dollop of honey in their tea? Here is a breakdown of the many natural health benefits of bee products. For more journaling room, there is graph paper for you to "buzz" the pages with your thoughts and/or other healing related topics.

The book contains several tags and ribbon clips. The edges of most design paper have been distress inked. The book closes with a cream colored lace ribbon.

All of these items were handcrafted with great care. Small imperfections are part of their charm and character.
